Thank you for considering auditioning for a choir in the Joint Music Program.
If you wish to audition for Spring 2017 choir, please contact Prof David Rentz on or after January 16: email@example.com
A successful audition is required to sing in the choirs. One audition suffices for both choirs. Auditions are held every fall during orientation week for incoming and new students. Auditions for the spring semester are held around the time of pre-registration through the first week of classes in the spring semester; contact Prof. Kamm at the email address above to arrange an audition. Once a singer is in a choir, they may continue without interruption each semester without reauditioning.
Auditions consist of vocalizing, singing a familiar tune a cappella (such as My Country ‘Tis of Thee, Amazing Grace, or Happy Birthday), an exercise in pitch repetition, and a little sight singing. Students in the Claremont Concert Choir may have little experience with sight singing while in the Claremont Chamber Choir, music-reading experience is the norm.
The Claremont Concert Choir regularly rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays throughout each semester, 4:15-5:30 p.m. The Claremont Chamber Choir rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays 5:40-6:40 p.m. plus a 30-minute sectional rehearsal each week. Singers in the Chamber Choir also sing in the Concert Choir, attending one regular Concert Choir rehearsal each week.
